The Friends of the Punta Gorda Charlotte Library offers a volunteer opportunity at its bookstore at the library, 401 Shreve Street. The Friends organization runs the store with volunteer help and supports resources beyond the county’s library budget.

Bookstore duties include helping customers, totaling purchases, handling payments and change, accepting donations, cleaning books and other media, and shelving donated items. The organization says a shift can involve sitting or standing for up to three hours.

Interested residents can email info@friendspg.org or stop at the bookstore for an application. The Friends group screens applicants, so submitting an application starts the process rather than guarantees a position. It is a practical option for book lovers who want to contribute regular time to a local library.
